6-Week Course Outline

This course consists of 12 one-hour classes.

1st class Introduction to the sound and writing system of Mandarin Chinese
2nd class Pronunciation of consonant and simple vowel sounds in useful words
3rd class Pronunciation of consonants and compound vowel sounds in useful words
4th class 4 Tones in words and phrases + character writing basics
5th class Pinyin system for pronunciation and transcription of words and phrases + character writing
6th class Sentence structure basics and building + useful character writing/recognition
7th class Mini conversation building + useful character writing/recognition
8th class Useful words, phrases and sentences in greeting and chit-chatting + useful character writing/recognition
9th class Useful words, phrases and sentences in emergency situations + useful character writing/recognition
10th class Useful words, phrases and sentences for traveling I + useful character writing/recognition
11th class Useful words, phrases and sentences for traveling II + useful character writing/recognition
12th class Useful words, phrases and sentences for business + self-learning strategies

8-Week Course Outline

The 8-week Beginning Chinese course content is the same as the 6-week course, except the content is covered in 8 one-and-a-half hour classes.
