6-Week Course Outline
This course consists of 12 one-hour classes.
| 1st class | Introduction to the sound and writing system of Mandarin Chinese |
| 2nd class | Pronunciation of consonant and simple vowel sounds in useful words |
| 3rd class | Pronunciation of consonants and compound vowel sounds in useful words |
| 4th class | 4 Tones in words and phrases + character writing basics |
| 5th class | Pinyin system for pronunciation and transcription of words and phrases + character writing |
| 6th class | Sentence structure basics and building + useful character writing/recognition |
| 7th class | Mini conversation building + useful character writing/recognition |
| 8th class | Useful words, phrases and sentences in greeting and chit-chatting + useful character writing/recognition |
| 9th class | Useful words, phrases and sentences in emergency situations + useful character writing/recognition |
| 10th class | Useful words, phrases and sentences for traveling I + useful character writing/recognition |
| 11th class | Useful words, phrases and sentences for traveling II + useful character writing/recognition |
| 12th class | Useful words, phrases and sentences for business + self-learning strategies |
8-Week Course Outline
The 8-week Beginning Chinese course content is the same as the 6-week course, except the content is covered in 8 one-and-a-half hour classes.
